Solar eclipse in Libra (oct 2)
How much do you really want it? What are you willing to do and to sacrifice in order to get the things you say you want in life? These are the big themes of this eclipse.
This eclipse will bring about a major crisis and/or release of shocking information for many which will actually be a releasing and allowing of new things and opportunities to arise. We can use this energy to get closer to what we want in life by leaps and bounds but ONLY IF we are willing to sacrifice something. Whatever that something is is indicated by wherever Libra lands in your chart.
The last time an eclipse like this happened on the south node (and at the same degree in Libra) was October of 2005 so think back to what you were doing then because similar themes will likely arise now. As for world events, there was an earthquake around then in Kashmir at that time as well as escalations in conflicts between Israel and Palestine. We also saw another eclipse last October in Libra which kicked off the conflict currently going on between Israel and Palestine. Perhaps we will unfortunately see some issues around this in October of this year as well.
Libra is also about agreements and cooperation. Eclipses in such a sign can suggest big breaks in alliances or agreements. It doesn't bode well for peace and other agreements. This eclipse at least has Jupiter in a positive aspect to it so let us hope that this will lead to some resolution instead of just conflict.
This Eclipse also has a conjunction with both Mercury and Lilith. Lilith has a lot to do with our lower impulses and dark thoughts. This suggests that there could be secrets coming out, especially in relationships, agreements, or even business matters. We may see some people’s dirty secrets come out in the news during this time or perhaps will learn such things about our own friends and partners. This energy lines up well with other energies I have been discussing since about July, when both Neptune and Saturn went retrograde together in Pisces. We are all on a journey of seeing something for what it really is through to the end of the year. Taking the rose colored glasses off, accepting the truth, and releasing in order to allow for something new to come in.
This Eclipse is a Solar Eclipse (which means it’s also a New Moon). Effects from such an eclipse are said to be felt up to one month before the eclipse and felt for up to a YEAR afterwards! So, we will be dealing with the effects of this eclipse for some time.
Something important to know is that eclipses are meant to push us further on our life paths. If we experience shocks or sudden shifts during this time, this is a clue to us that we weren't on the right life path before! Even those that ARE on the right paths may have important events occur around this time, though it may not be so shocking. That said, you should see these crises and forced changes as for your greater good and trust that you have veered off your true path and are being recentered.
Eclipses on the north node suggest that there will be material changes of some kind, while this eclipse is occurring on the south node which is more about internal shifts and sacrifices that we need to make. Both are considered to be destabilizing and surprising, of course. We are also in the midst of some major Pisces shifts in energy which are all about sacrifice and giving something away, trusting that the Universe has everything under control. The last eclipse in September was in Pisces, in fact, which was a lunar eclipse. It’s said that lunar eclipses affect us for up to a month before and three months after so this energy is also still in play. Pisces has a lot to do with things like flooding, immigration issues, and people feeling a bit lost. All themes that have come up quite a bit around the world at this time. But, at it’s core, it’s about forgiveness and releasing.
This next solar eclipse will be in Libra, however, and on the south node. This makes me believe that this upcoming Eclipse is a crescendo of some kind. A heightened energetic point in which many of us will experience the height of this energy in some way. We may be offered a way towards our dreams and life path but only at the expense of something else in our lives. This will most likely be some kind of lifestyle or way of being that you feel comfortable with. It’s best to give this away purposefully rather than have this forced upon you.
This eclipse is also conjunct with a fixed star called Vindemiatrix which is a fixed star in the Virgo constellation (you can find it at 10 degrees of Libra in tropical astrology). This is not considered to be a favorable star. It’s said to be associated with a distrustful nature and depressed moods. It’s also called the “widow maker”. This, again, brings up a sense of loss and clearing out of some contracts or promises and then being able to commit to new ones.
Mars is also entering its shadow period as it prepares for its retrograde in December starting on October 6. It will not be out of shadow/retrograde until April of 2025 and will be primarily happening in Cancer (with a brief visit into Leo in November)! This gives us a clue as to the themes you will have to fight against and overcome, especially in December. Those trends will come up for you now and will affect the area of life that Cancer rules in your chart. Mars does not do well in Cancer and it acts more impulsively. We may see people be more reactive and emotional and will fight because of their emotional attachments. This also suggests that people will act up a lot more starting here in October which will escalate and continue into April next year! This is not a good time to enter conflict with people. Take a look at what you feel worked up about and think deeply about why you are so attached to this thing. Pick your battles and try not to act from a place of emotions at this time.
I see the combination of all of these effects as people being forced into new situations that they are not comfortable with. People may need to move or change their home in some way, people may be changing jobs or just be getting displaced in general. I think there will be more conflicts around countries, patriotism, and belief systems. People standing up for their beliefs, feeling triggered, and feeling scared or threatened because of some shocking news or revelations about people they have relied upon or looked up to. So, again, try not to join the noise. Understand that whatever is being revealed to you is for your greater good to know! This time period it’s best to avoid things like alcohol and emotional conflicts.
On a positive note, by the time we get through this Mars retrograde, we may see a readjustment of pricing around housing and perhaps even groceries. The masses are more likely to be heard during this time as they take to the streets to protest (I think literally, in some cases!!) and this will put so much pressure on leaders to respond to their concerns. This is also an ending that is really meant to be good for all of us. Realizations will come out as to why something hasn’t been working well or perhaps some secrets will come out that help us realize who we can no longer trust so that we can make the changes needed to align with the right people!
ARIES
This eclipse will occur in your 7th house of relationships and partnerships! You may feel a sense of unfulfillment in your life regarding some relationship or partnership and this is a clue to you as to what you need to release during this time. This eclipse may also bring a new relationship into your life! You will not be able to let in the new relationship, however, unless you sacrifice something. You may need to sacrifice an old partner, agreement/arrangement, or even your own sense of identity and independence! Pay attention to fated figures that may appear into your life, this person may be a past life connection as well. This could also be that your partner goes through some major change or is forced to change because of some crisis. You may learn some unsavory things about a partnership during this time as well.
It’s also important to note that your ruling planet, Mars, is entering its shadow right now. You may feel a push to act but will have to revisit things when Mars goes retrograde in December. This is mainly happening in your 4th house which means this could be about your home or family life. This could bring conflict at home or fighting with family members for you as well. It’s better to address any crisis with family during October before it goes retrograde in December and also try to not be too reactive. You may say something you don’t really mean! Others of you may be moving or repairing something in your home.
TAURUS
This eclipse is falling in your 6th house of health. You may have a health crisis come up and this crisis will have more to do with your habits and lifestyle rather than a disease or something outside of your control. This time period is a good time to look at changing your lifestyle in some way such as medicines you take, exercise routines, and other unhealthy habits. These health issues are said to be based on more “primitive desires” as we see Lilith here. This could also be work related for you. You may need to give up a job or project or perhaps introduce a new approach to your work.
Mars will be going into shadow in your 3rd house. You may be quite busy! You may have lots of errands to run, new business projects, etc. You may also have some conflicts/arguments with siblings/neighbors or those in your environment. That said, Mars does fairly well here and can give you a lot of momentum to expand on some skills or make some great connections. You may find yourself more attacked at this time and people being competitive with you. Be mindful of this because this battle can really drag out into next Spring if you engage from a place of emotional reactivity. You may be more feisty yourself during this time so watch your reactions!
GEMINI
The eclipse is happening in your 5th house, the house of children, romance, and projects. This could be a good time to get some great new business ideas! You may get some divine inspiration on this front. You may have to sacrifice some level of comfort to approach this idea! There can be a further connection strengthened with someone or perhaps you may meet a new person whom you know from a past life. That said, unhealthy relationships may also reach a crisis point at this time. You may learn something unsavory about someone you’ve been interested in which causes a separation. It is said that the 5th house is connected to “good karma” so you may also find some positive developments and protection from Jupiter in your own sign! Things should work out mostly in your favor and luck for you. Jupiter will be going retrograde in your sign as well which suggests a 2nd chance at something!
Mars will be going into shadow in your 2nd house until April 2025. You may be more focused on financial stability during this time. You may face some stressful situations around this and this might be a good time to readdress your budget. Try not to overspend!
CANCER
This eclipse is happening in your 4th house. This could enhance your psychic abilities but also make you quite feisty! This can be destabilizing for you. If your Cancer placements are close to 10 degrees, this may be an actual event in your life. You may be moving or making a big change to your home. You may be leaving behind some old comforts or perhaps having a big family dynamic shift! Some of you may be learning something unsavory about your family members or ancestry. Many cancers will be making such changes over the next 6 months. The best way to view this is that you can be freed from past patterns, generational curses, etc.
Mars will be affecting your sign until next Spring!! This is a lot of energy for you. You may be more ambitious during this time and may want to work on your career or even your physique! Some of you may have issues with authority figures like bosses and parents. Try to manage your emotional responses when these figures approach you as they may first approach you in the sense of a crisis. You are likely to be the most reactive and triggered sign during this time so pay attention to your attachments and reactions. Use this energy proactively such as working out and other projects instead!
LEO
This eclipse is happening in your 3rd house! This house is associated with communication, short trips, errands/practical matters, as well as your local environments. You may have an important conversation during this time that has you reevaluating your approach. This is a good time for you to think about what you are consuming mentally and how that is affecting your communication or internal dialogue. You may need to release some connections to neighbors or siblings here. Some of you may be moving or going on a short trip. It’s not recommended to travel during the eclipse for you so be careful and perhaps push these trips into a bit later into the month. Some of you may also be starting a new course or teaching program. This could also be a good time for you to work on a business project, perhaps a website update or social media campaign.
Mars will be in shadow in your 12th house primarily (though it will enter your sign briefly). This can bring up your subconscious hang ups and fears. You may have memories resurface or you may have dreams about such things. This is a good time to work through unresolved feelings and repressed anger. There may be angry feelings surfacing for you, pay attention to what is coming up for you to address and release. Doing so can help you to realize and release some self sabotaging behaviors.
VIRGO
This eclipse will be happening in your 2nd house. This is the house of our resources, security, and that which nourishes us (like food). There is a big shift in this area of life for you. Perhaps you start a new financial venture or shift in values. In order to make progress here, you will need to release something as well. A sacrifice is needed in regards to something you are comfortable with. You may need to release some possessions or limit time with family, for example, in order to create self sufficiency. Pay attention to new ideas that come up for you during this time! Cleaning out your closet or having a garage sale could be a great way to utilize this energy and clear out space for new money to come in!! Think about what you have or work on that isn’t of actual value for you, these are the things you should release. This house is also associated with food so some of you may need to make some dietary shifts as well.
Mars will be in shadow primarily in your 11th house until next April. This could be working on your hopes and dreams for many of you. This may take a lot of effort (especially when it goes retrograde in December) but nevertheless you will likely succeed here (especially by next April)! You may be working hard on some program or title, or perhaps some business idea. This is a good time to work on expanding your audience and gains. Take a look at these and restructure somehow.
LIBRA
This eclipse is in your sign so you are the most affected by this! You also had an eclipse in this sign last October. The closest your Libra placements are to 10 degrees the more likely this is to manifest as actual life events. You will likely experience a big shift during this time. This is about you shedding your old skin but it will require you to let go of some old personas or sense of identity. In order for you to find success and fulfill some dream you will need to sacrifice something. Many of you will be going through massive identity shifts during this time. Many of you will also have some fated shifts in your relationships as a new chapter begins for you. According to ancient astrologers, when the nodes are in your 1st house, you may meet a fated soulmate during this time! The eclipse occurs in your 12th house! Your intuition is INSANE over the next 6 months! This house is also about far away places. Some of you may need to move or deal with something from a foreign country. That said, the 12th is largely internal so many Scorpios will be dealing more with internal issues and change. You may be psychologically shifting. You may have memories resurface or traumas readdress and realize how these are playing a role in addictions or fears that you have. You may gain some new insights into sabotaging behavior (both self sabotage as well as thinking about choices or people in your life that reflect this and also sabotage you). This is a great opportunity to release such things!! This is a time for you to release this dead weight. Your dreams may be intense as well as your intuition during this time! This house can also be associated with loss and sudden expenses so that may come up for you as well.
Mars will be shadow primarily in your 9th house. You may have to deal with some legal matters during this time but you will have the strength to do so. It would be better to deal with such things now instead of December when it goes retrograde (though many of you will have to revisit these issues during this time). This would also be a good time for you to obtain some new skills or study something new that may help your career later on. Others will also be thinking back through your beliefs and making changes thereof. You may have a lot of energy around your belief system and should watch out for arguments in this area as you may be changing your opinions on this later on! You may also find support with people who are from a different background from you and/or are from foreign lands. Some of you may be moving as well or going on a trip over the next 6 months.
SAGITTARIUS
The eclipse is happening in your 11th house. This is mostly favorable for you! This may start as a crisis situation, however, most likely in your social environment such as your friend groups, client base, online presence, etc. You may have some important developments here or learn something unsavory about these areas. Some of you may be releasing some old clients or colleagues during this time. You may also, however, meet new connections that are extremely helpful to you. These may be people who you know from a past life or are a part of your “soul group”. These people may be more aligned to your ideals and beliefs and are able to help you pursue your dreams and goals more readily. You are likely to be able to achieve a goal or dream (likely an old one) over the next 6 months, though you will need to sacrifice something to do so.
Mars is in shadow primarily in your 8th house. This house is associated with other people’s money, money that is owed, as well as loss and psychological issues. It would be better to address such issues before December before Mars goes retrograde. This could bring up some sort of battle for you regarding resources. There could be arguments that come up regarding who owes what in some arrangement. If you have a partner, they might go through ups and downs regarding their financial situation as well. This will especially be felt in December but now is the time to make a plan to budget and make such arrangements.
CAPRICORN
This eclipse is in your 10th house. You are activated quite a bit over the next couple months in general, actually, so many of you are experiencing major events over the next few months. This can change your social status or titles in some way. This is likely associated with your career. You may finish off a career and start a new one or feel a major shift in regards to your relationships with bosses and other authority figures. This could start with a crisis such as something getting shut down or a clash with a boss. That said, this is about releasing something in order to build something better! You may be pushed to do something better and align you on a better path with your career. Try to keep an open mind with these changes and allow the new career opportunities to come into your life. This could be a great opportunity for many of you to get a promotion or grow your business.
Mars is in shadow primarily in your 7th house. You may have people come into your life that push you. This could be frustrating and pressing your buttons at times. This could be a partner or colleague. Look at this energy as a fuel to look at how you could do things differently. This may motivate you to be more successful or make some important change.
AQUARIUS
The eclipse is occurring in your 9th house. This house is about higher knowledge. Some of you may be starting a course or you may discover some new knowledge that helps you to grow in your spiritual values. You may start a path of self improvement as well or meet some spiritual teachers! You may have to sacrifice something in this regard (like all of us). You may need to release old belief systems or paths as well. This could cause a crisis of faith or have some major realizations around how the world really is or what you really believe in. Old programming from religions or cultures that no longer align with you may be highlighted as a dysfunctional belief. This will likely be more internal for Aquarius and are likely related to things they were raised to believe from old religious teachers or father figures.

These health problems are likely due to your environment, something you can change. Mars suggests inflammatory issues so that may also be a factor. Cancerian activities may help you here such as being in the water, drinking hot water, going for swims, etc. This house is also associated with pets! Getting a pet or spending time with one may be quite healing also. Mainly, though, this is about releasing a bad habit of some kind. This eclipse is happening in your 8th house. This house is associated with internal psychology as well as joint finances. This will likely be more internal for you and bring up a lot of subconscious issues and trauma. You may have something like this come up for you in a very intense way. That said, you will likely feel liberated afterwards and allow you to release some fears. You may find some new source of support from another, this could even be financial in nature or just their resources in general. You may have to address some deep psychological issues or experience a big loss but then on the other side receive new support like an inheritance or support from others. You may benefit from some deep research as well such as working with a therapist or dealing with occult matters (like Astrology!)

There is a lot of fire and drama to your love life until next April! Passion can ignite here but also bring conflict so it’s best to deal with these conflicts this month rather than wait until December when it goes retrograde. You may need to have a clarifying conversation with someone during this time but avoid emotionally explosive episodes!
